Conair Group, a plastics auxiliary equipment manufacturer owned by Piovan Group, has announced a $10 million expansion of its manufacturing operations in Franklin, Pennsylvania. The investment will add in-house manufacturing, machining and powder coating capabilities, with plans to create 126 new jobs.
The expansion is intended to bring more production activities in-house. Its significance lies in the scope of work Conair plans to handle directly: adding machining and powder coating capabilities could give the company greater control over how those processes are scheduled and coordinated with other manufacturing operations.

For equipment customers, a potential benefit would be more consistent production scheduling if closer coordination reduces delays between manufacturing stages. Any improvement in delivery performance, however, would depend on how effectively the added capabilities are integrated and staffed. The investment announcement alone does not establish shorter lead times or lower equipment prices.
The planned 126 positions also make workforce development an important part of the expansion. Bringing more work in-house requires staffing to keep pace with the additional production responsibilities. Further details on hiring, the rollout of the new capabilities and the production activities being brought inside the business would help clarify when the investment could begin to affect manufacturing performance.
